Athletics: Yang Jiayu (CHN) wins women’s 20km race walk!
Yang’s early kick has paid off in emphatic fashion!
The world record holder was starting to be caught by Perez (ESP), but the Chinese responded to the Spaniard’s challenge to win a season-best time of 1:25:54, 25 seconds ahead of Perez in second.
Yang is now a world champion (2017), the current world record holder, and an Olympic champion at Paris 2024!
Bronze goes to Jemima Montag (AUS), who finished second at the world championships last year. And she sets an area record too in 1:26.25.
A shout-out for Lorena Arenas (COL) in fourth, who sets a national record in 1:27:03.
