Swimming: History in the pool tonight?
At the La Défense Arena, we’re just over 10 minutes away from the night’s swimming finals getting started. There are just three finals scheduled tonight but expect fast and furious racing.
Leading us off will be the men’s 50m freestyle, the fastest race of the programme. The arena will be loud for Florent Manaudou in lane one; USA’s Caeleb Dressel goes in two while Great Britain’s Ben Proud was the fastest qualifier.
Cam McEvoy of Australia, the 2023 world champ, is in lane five, but notably, in lane six, is Jordan Crooks of Cayman Islands. No Cayman Islander has ever won an Olympic medal.
Also tonight, the men’s 200m individual medley final, starring, you guessed it, Léon Marchand.
