Athletics: Kenny Bednarek and Fred Kerley (USA) record fastest time in round 1 of men’s 100m
That’s it for for the first round of the men’s 100m – we now know the 27 men who will advance to the semi-final of the competition.
Noah Lyles, Lamont Jacobs, Louise Hinchliffe, Kerley and Bednarek – the final two of whom share the fastest time of the day with a 9.97 mark – are all through to the next stage of the competition.
Bednarek won silver in the men’s 200m at Tokyo 2020, while Kirley is the defending 100m Olympic silver medallist.
