Table tennis: Chen retains Olympic title over Sun
Chen Meng, the defending champion up 9-6 in the sixth game, calls a timeout. As is traditional in medal matches between two Chinese players, there is no coach present and it’s all down to the players.
Chen takes a moment to gather her thoughts, then returns to the table to see out the match.
The relative underdog in this match has won 4-2. She has successfully defended her title against the favourite, her teammate Sun Yingsha.
There are no exuberant celebrations – two arms in the air, a hug for her teammate.
