Artistic gymnastics: Italy’s Alice D’Amato wins women’s balance beam, Simone Biles fifth
Alice D’Amato wins gold with 14.366 to become Italy’s first ever Olympic champion in women’s gymnastics.
Zhou Yaqin of People’s Republic of China scored 14.100 to seal silver, while Italy’s Manila Esposito completed the podium with bronze on 14.000.
USA’s Simone Biles, who has won three golds at Paris 2024 so far, finished fifth with 13.100 after failing to land one of her jumps and falling off the beam.
It’s raining gymnastics medals at Paris 2024 for Italy, who last gold in gymnastics (in any event) in the men’s horizontal bar at Athens 2004!
