Track cycling: Great Britain break women’s team sprint world record
The track cycling programme began today at the St Quentin en Yvelines Velodrome, and we’ve already had a world record in the first event.
Full caveat: this is an existing event which has had a rules change recently, as the women’s team sprint went from teams of two riders to teams of three.
The world record stood at 45.487 by People’s Republic of China. Great Britain have broken that and also set the first standing Olympic record, clocking 45.472.
