Athletics: Quincy Hall stuns Matthew Hudson-Smith to win men’s 400m

It’s time for the men’s 400m final.

Great Britain’s Matthew Hudson-Smith, in lane six, is the favourite.

Also in this final are Michael Norman and Quincy Hall from USA, Zambia’s Muzala Samukonga, and London 2012 champion Kirani James of Grenada.

Hudson-Smith gets a decent cheer from the British fans in the stands.

It’s a fast start from the outside lane, Jereem Richards of Trinidad and Tobago. Halfway through, Hudson-Smith’s making his move as they come onto the straight.

Hudson-Smith from Richards and Samukonga and Hall are in the conversation!

And Quincy Hall takes it to stun Matthew Hudson-Smith!

43.40, a personal best and the fifth-fastest all-time.

Silver for Hudson-Smith in a European record 43.44.

Samukonga wins bronze for Zambia in a national record 43.74, while Richards also gets a national record in fourth at 43.78.
