Taekwondo: Rashitov, Kim triumphant at Grand Palais

Two more gold medals were awarded this evening in taekwondo at the majestic Grand Palais.

In the men’s -68kg category, Uzbekistan’s Ulugbek Rashitov defended his title by taking both rounds against Jordan’s Zaid Kareem.

Bronzes went to People’s Republic of China’s Liang Yushuai by walkover (his opponent Bradly Sinden withdrew through injury) and Brazil’s Edival Pontes.

In the women’s -57kg, Kim Yujin took gold for Republic of Korea, 2-0 over Islamic Republic of Iran’s Nahid Kiyanichandeh.

Skylar Park of Canada took bronze, as did Bulgaria’s Kimia Alizadeh, a Rio 2016 bronze medallist for Iran who also competed for the Refugee Olympic Team in Tokyo and finished fifth.
