Boxing: History for Refugee Olympic Team as Cindy Ngamba wins bronze in women’s 75kg
Cindy Ngamba took a round and one of the five judges’ overall cards in her women’s 75kg boxing semi-final, but ultimately it was not enough for the Refugee Olympic Team boxer to make it into the gold-medal final.
Her 4-1 split decision defeat to Panama’s Atheyna Bylon means Ngamba makes history as the Refugee Olympic Team’s first medallist since the team was formed in 2016.
The other bronze medal in the category went to Caitlin Parker of Australia, who was defeated in a 5-0 unanimous decision.
