Ana Peleteiro-Compaoré Wins Triple Jump Gold in Stunning Comeback

Ana Peleteiro-Compaoré picked up Spain’s first gold medal of Roma 2024 as she won the women’s triple jump with a fourth-round 14.85m (-0.5m/s). It completed a brilliant comeback to the sport after becoming a mother in December 2022.

The Olympic bronze medallist also won bronze at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow in March and now she has a major title too. Turkey’s European indoor champion Tuğba Danişmaz put up a formidable challenge with her second-round national record of 14.57m (-0.8m/s), which led at one stage. But Peleteiro-Compaoré had the final word.

Bronze went to France’s Ilionis Guillaume, who added 15cm to her personal best to take bronze with a final round effort of 14.43m (-0.3m/s).
