Angelica Moser Clinches European Outdoor Pole Vault Title

In an impressive display of resilience and skill, Angelica Moser, 24, won the European outdoor pole vault title, matching the Swiss national record with a 4.78-meter clearance. Despite a shaky start where she missed her first two attempts at 4.43 meters, Moser regained her form to clear the height on her third try.

She then vaulted over 4.58 meters on her first attempt and cleared 4.68 meters on her second attempt. After a miss at 4.73 meters, it seemed the battle for gold would be between Molly Caudery of Great Britain and Greece’s Aikaterini Stefanidi, both of whom had cleared 4.73 meters.

Moser, however, strategically opted to skip to 4.78 meters and succeeded on her first attempt, putting the pressure back on her competitors. Both Stefanidi and Caudery failed to clear 4.83 meters, securing Moser the gold medal. Stefanidi took silver on countback, while Caudery earned bronze due to earlier misses.

Reflecting on her victory, Moser highlighted the risks taken during the competition and expressed pride in overcoming past injuries to win her first senior outdoor medal.
