Athletics: Brian Pintado (ECU) wins men’s 20km race walk gold!
37th at Rio 2016, 12th at Tokyo 2020, and now, at Paris 2024, a wonderful 1st!
Pintado made his move with about two kilometres to go, pulling away from Bonfim (BRA) and 2023 world champion Alvaro Martin (ESP) to claim gold in a time of 1:18:55 – and he celebrates with Cristiano Ronaldo’s siuuu celebration!
Pintado’s gold is Ecuador’s first (of any kind) at Paris 2024, while Bonfim wins Brazil’s first ever medal in race walking.
