Athletics: Canada win men’s 4x100m relay
Straight on to the second relay of the night, the men’s 4x100m relay final. The heavy shower we had during the women’s race has all but fizzled out.
Italy, Japan, Great Britain, USA, France, South Africa, People’s Republic of China, and Canada in this final.
Off they go and it’s a good start for South Africa and USA.
But there’s a slow changeover for the U.S. and they have work to do to catch up! Japan and Italy lead coming into the final straight and in lane 9 it’s Canada!
Andre de Grasse anchors Canada to a win! 37.50.
South Africa silver in an African record 37.57, Great Britain bronze in 37.61.
The U.S. finished in seventh. Actually, no. They have been disqualified.
