Athletics: Jakob Ingebrigtsen wins men’s 5000m gold
This men’s 5000m final hasn’t really kicked into high gear yet.
It’s an extremely tactical race, and the runners seem to have decided that positions are more important than times today – it’s all about getting those medals.
Three laps to go and there is still a big leading pack. And again at two laps to go. Jakob Ingebrigtsen is towards the front for Norway.
We finally have an attack on the penultimate time down the straight! Hagos Gebrhiwet is at the front but here comes Ingebrigtsen!
It’s a big kick from the Norwegian on the back bend! And here comes Dominic Lobalu for Refugee Olympic Team and Grant Fisher for USA!
Fisher might have made it into the medals!
Jakob Ingebrigtsen wins gold in 13:13.66. Kenya’s Ronald Kewmoi silver in 13:15.04.
And bronze goes to Grant Fisher in 13:15.13. Lobalu just missed out, finishing fourth, but a remarkable run from the Swiss-based refugee athlete.
