Athletics: Miltiadis Tentoglou wins second straight men’s long jump title
We’re heading into the final jumps in the men’s long jump final now.
Greece’s world champion and reigning Olympic champ Miltiadis Tentoglou still leads with an 8.48m from Jamaica’s Wayne Pinnock on 8.36m and Italy’s Mattia Furlani on 8.34m.
Four men left to jump – those three and Switzerland’s decathlete-turned-long jump specialist, Simon Ehammer.
Ehammer runs through after missing his takeoff and he will finish fourth. Our medallists are decided.
No improvement for Furlani on his last jump and the Italian will leave with bronze.
Only Pinnock can deny Tentoglou now. But that won’t do it either, a jump a little over 8m.
Tentoglou has his second Olympic gold! Can he go further than 8.48? He starts a clap for the crowd, who follow.
Off he goes… and he runs through.
No matter – Tentoglou wins gold from Pinnock and Furlani! The Greek applauds the crowd.
