Athletics: Valarie Allman (USA) wins discus throw gold again

We’re into the final throws of the women’s discus throw.

In fourth, Germany’s Marike Steinacker needs to better 67.51 to move into the medals. But she fouls her last throw and that means our medallists are now set: defending champ Valarie Allman (USA)Feng Bin (CHN), and Sandra Elkasevic (CRO) – who already has a season’s best with 67.51.

An improvement on that would move her above Feng, while she needs 69.50 to take gold. But the discus flies into the net and it’s no improvement – still a bronze medal for the Croatian!

No improvement for Feng either – so Valarie Allman defens her Olympic title!

Allman’s 69.50m from her fourth throw is enough to win gold.
