Boxing: Kellie Harrington (IRL) retains women’s 60kg gold

Third and final round. "Kellie, Kellie" strikes up again from the crowd.

What can Yang find?

Not a lot. Harrington goes in with a right. Yang responds with one of her own.

A couple of attempted body shots as Harrington dodges out of the way.

The Irishwoman knows she doesn’t have to do anything silly from here – no mistakes to open the gate for Yang.

A left hook from the Chinese pugilist. Yang tries again and gets a right in, then dodges one from Harrington.

Both women are clearly tiring now.

10 seconds. The crowd roars. A couple more shots from the Irishwoman as the time runs out and the bell goes.

She pumps both arms in the air. Harrington thinks – knows? – she’s done enough.

Yang looks out of breath. Harrington pumps up the Irish fans in the crowd.

By a 4-1 split decision, Kellie Harrington wins gold!

Court Philippe Chatrier roars. Harrington and Yang hug, Harrington congratulates the Chinese corner, then runs into an embrace in her own corner.

The Irishwoman is in tears in the centre of the ring. She then picks herself up, thanks the crowd, and dances a jig with her coach.

Harrington is the first female Irish athlete to win back-to-back gold medals at the Olympic Games.
