Canoe sprint: New Zealand win women’s kayay four 500m gold!
The 2023 world champions have just become Olympic champions!
They had to fight for gold as Germany were right alongside them for the entirety of the race, but the Kiwi team of Lisa Carrington, Alicia Hoskin, Olivia Brett and Tara Vaughan were able to hold on to win in a time of 1:32.20.
It’s a seventh Olympic medal for Carrington, who now becomes New Zealand’s most decorated Olympian in history – what an achievement!
Silver goes to Germany, with Tokyo 2020 champions Hungary taking bronze.
