Diving: Xie Siyi (CHN) wins men’s 3m springboard gold!
Xie successfully defends his Olympic title from Tokyo to win gold in Paris!
After he won two golds in Tokyo and then decided to step away from the sport, many thought Xie was done for good. But he returned to diving, and based on his performance today, it’s as if he never left.
His last dive – a stunning forward 4½ somersaults – scored him 100.7 points to virtually secure the gold before
Wang Zongyuan‘s (CHN) last dive.
An error in his penultimate dive means that Wang (despite a in incredible 102.60 final dive) was destined to finish second, while it’s an impressive bronze for Osmar Olvera Ibarra (MEX).
