Femke Bol delivered an outstanding performance at the European Championships, setting a new championship record and world-leading time in the 400m hurdles. The 24-year-old athlete dominated the race, finishing with a time of 52.67 seconds, surpassing her own championship record from Munich and the world-leading mark of 52.70 seconds set by Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone.
Louise Maraval of France claimed silver with a personal best of 54.23 seconds, while Bol’s teammate, Cathelijn Peeters, secured bronze with a time of 54.37 seconds.
Bol’s decision to focus on the 400m hurdles instead of the 400m flat proved successful. After also earning bronze in the 4x400m mixed relay, she is now set to compete for a second gold medal in the women’s 4x400m final.
