Athletics: Stade de France erupts for Julien Alfred (LCA) and Gemima Joseph (FRA) in round 1 of women’s 200m

It’s only heat 1 of the first round of the women’s 200m, but you’d think it was the final given how loud it just got in the Stade de Frace!

There are enormous cheers for Alfred – who won the 100m in stunning fashion last night – and Joseph as the race gets underway. 

It’s another impressive showing from Alfred, who eases up in the last 10m or so to win the heat in 22.41. And Jospeh finishes second to the delight of the crowd! Both women qualify to the semi-final.
