Gymnastics: Kaylia Nemour (ALG) wins uneven bars gold!
This is special. After the gauntlet was thrown down by 2023 world champion Qiu Qiyuan (CHN) – who had a sublime routine that scored 15.500, Nemour goes one better and proves why she has nine of the top 10 world scores in this appartus over the past year.
The 17-year-old is absolutely flawless throughout and nails the landing to huge roars from the crowd, receiving an outrageous 15.700 to win gold!
She makes history too: it’s the first gymnastics medal for an athlete representing an African NOC in Olympic history!
It’s a well-deserved silver for Qiu, while Sunisa Lee (USA) adds another Paris 2024 medal to her collection with bronze.
