Hockey: Netherlands win men’s gold with shoot-out win over Germany
At the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium, there couldn’t be a more dramatic finish to the men’s hockey final between Netherlands and Germany.
After a 1-1 draw in regulation time – both goals coming in the fourth quarter – we’re going to a penalty shoot-out.
Netherlands get us underway and the first attempt is saved. Germany, too, cannot find a way past the Dutch keeper.
The second attempts are also saved.
Thierry Brinkman gets the first on the board for the Dutch! And Thijs van Dam doubles their lead!
Justus Weigand gets one back for Germany but then Duco Telgenkamp scores and the Netherlands players can celebrate!
