Natalia Kaczmarek Wins 400m Gold in Record-Breaking Performance at Roma 2024

Natalia Kaczmarek claimed a thrilling victory in the women’s 400m final at the Roma 2024 European Athletics Championships, held from June 7-12. She edged out Ireland’s Rhasidat Adeleke with an incredible time of 48.98 seconds, setting a new Polish national record and achieving the fastest European time this century.

Kaczmarek, the world silver medalist, surpassed Irena Szewinska’s legendary record of 49.28 seconds set in 1976, earning her first major individual title. Pushed to the limit by Adeleke, who improved her Irish record to 49.07 seconds, Kaczmarek showcased her exceptional preparation and determination.

Bronze went to Lieke Klaver from the Netherlands, who added this to her previous bronze in the mixed 4x400m relay. Reflecting on her achievement, Kaczmarek expressed pride in her performance and the fulfillment of her dreams of breaking the Polish record.
