New 2000m world record by Jessica Hull

Women’s 2000m

Five days after becoming the fifth-fastest women’s 1500m runner in history, Australia’s Jessica Hull set a new world record in the 2000m with a time of 5:19.70 at the Herculis EBS Wanda Diamond League meeting in Monaco. Hull followed the pacemakers closely, staying on track throughout the race. She remained focused, with trackside lights indicating world record pace never leaving her side. Hull took the lead in the final stretch and finished almost two seconds ahead of the previous record. She expressed her excitement, noting the crowd’s support and her hard work. This accomplishment adds to Hull’s impressive record as she prepares for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Women’s pole vault

Nina Kennedy emerged victorious in the women’s pole vault at the Herculis EBS Wanda Diamond League meeting in Monaco, successfully clearing 4.88m on her first try and winning on countback. Angelica Moser achieved the same height on her third attempt, setting a new Swiss record and surpassing her previous best by 10cm, which earned her second place. World indoor champion Molly Caudery secured third place with a clearance of 4.83m. Meanwhile, USA’s Olympic champion Katie Moon, who recently shared world gold with Kennedy in Budapest, cleared a best of 4.66m as she continues to recover from an injury.

Women’s Triple Jump

Cuba’s Leyanis Perez Hernandez, the world bronze medallist, nearly reached the 15-metre mark in the women’s triple jump with a top leap of 14.96m in the fifth round and another impressive 14.95m in the third round, securing first place. World indoor champion Thea LaFond claimed second with a jump of 14.87m, while Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk, returning from injury, took third place with a leap of 14.81m.

Women’s 400m

Rhasidat Adeleke narrowly missed her Irish 400m record by just a tenth of a second, clocking 49.17 to win the Women’s 400m Herculis EBS Wanda Diamond League meeting in Monaco. She finished ahead of the Netherlands’ Lieke Klaver, who achieved a personal best of 49.64, and the USA’s Kendall Ellis, who took third place with a time of 50.39.

Women’s 100m

Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia continued her impressive form by winning the 100m race with a time of 10.85 at the Herculis EBS Wanda Diamond League meeting in Monaco. This win comes afte her national record of 10.78 seconds set last month in Kingston.

She edged out Tamari Davis from the USA and Dina Asher-Smith from Britain, both of whom clocked 10.99 seconds in a tightly contested race.
