Volleyball: Italy win women’s gold!
In their first-ever women’s volleyball final at the Olympic Games, Italy’s women defeated reigning champions USA in straight sets to clinch the gold medal!
The Italians were excellent throughout, winning the first set by a commanding scoreline of 25-18. The USA attempted to fight back in the second but were unable to stop an Italian 25-20 set win, leading to the third set which was convincingly won by Italy 25-17.
Brazil clinched the bronze medal on Saturday, 10 August after defeating Türkiye 3-1 in the bronze medal match.
