Swimming: Léon Marchand completes 200 fly-breast double

Are you ready for more Marchand mania?

Because he’s back in the pool for the men’s 200m breaststroke final.

He’s the top qualifier in lane four, with defending champion Zac Stubblety-Cook of Australia next to him in lane five.

World record holder Qin Haiyang hasn’t made the final.

"Léon, Léon" is the chant.

Off into the pool they go to a massive roar. Every time Marchand comes up for air, he hears a massive roar of "allez" from the crowd.

The Frenchman leads at the first turn. And he’s opened up quite a big lead. Stubblety-Cook is holding back.

Marchand leads by nearly a length at the 100m mark from Caspar Corbeau and Stubblety-Cook.

The Aussie will need to turn it on soon. Marchand is still going quick. And the world record is under threat.

Here comes the turn for home with Marchand under the world record split! The crowd roars him on!

It doesn’t look like he’ll be caught! It’s super quick!

Léon Marchand completes the 200 fly-200 breast double in an Olympic record time!

2:05.85. Listen to that crowd. He came within four tenths of the world record.

Zac Stubblety-Cook wins silver, 0.94 back. Corbeau takes bronze for Netherlands in 2:07.90.
