Swimming: McEvoy pips Proud at the wall to win men’s 50m free

"Florent, Florent" the crowd chant. It’s super loud as both he and Dressel, the reigning champion and Olympic record holder, are introduced for this men’s 50m free final.

There’s really nothing much to say about tactics for this race: get a length of the pool done as quickly as you can. Some swimmers try to breath as little as they can.

The world record is 20.91 and the Olympic record is 21.07. Will either mark fall?

Manaudou, in lane one, gets the "Viking clap" going from the crowd. Have I mentioned it’s loud?

In they go! It’s Ben Proud, he’s leading from the front, has he got it? He hasn’t! Cameron McEvoy pips him!

This place explodes in joy as Florent Manaudou wins bronze!

McEvoy in 21.25, Proud in 21.30, Manaudou in 21.56.

Manaudou acknowledges the crowd, who resume chanting his name.
