Swimming: Sarah Sjöström (SWE) wins women’s 50m freestyle gold
Just four finals and no semi-finals in the pool tonight for the last night of swimming action at the Paris La Défense Arena.
The women’s 50m freestyle gets us underway. Sweden’s Sarah Sjöström, who has already won 100m free gold, was the fastest qualifier. Gretchen Walsh (USA) is next to her in lane five.
This race is really just about trying not to come up for air as much as you can. Will Sjöström make it a double?
Walsh starts strongly and hits the front! But here comes Sjöström!
She powers through for the win in 23.71 from Meg Harris of Australia in lane two, 23.97. Zhang Yufei (CHN) wins bronze in 24.20, with Walsh down in fourth.
