Athletics: Alfred – "I wrote down ‘Julien Alfred, Olympic champion’"
We’ve just been hearing from our women’s 100m medallists in the post-race press conference.
Here’s what Julien Alfred had to say:
"This morning I woke up and wrote it down, ‘Julien Alfred, Olympic champion.’ So I think believing in myself really was important.
"(Being from St. Lucia) means a lot to me. I did it in world indoors as well. I knew that St. Lucians were going to be watching. I know that they are celebrating back at home.
"It hasn’t sunk in yet. Slowly and surely it is. I think people are going to be searching for St. Lucia now. I’m looking forward to going home and joining in the celebrations."
