Femke Bol delivered a remarkable performance in the anchor leg, seizing the gold for the Netherlands in an exhilarating women’s 4×400 meters relay final at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
Starting the final leg in third place, nearly 20 meters behind the leading team from Jamaica and trailing Britain, Bol faced a significant gap as she entered the last stretch. Despite narrowly missing victory in the 4x400m mixed relay on the opening night, Bol, who later secured individual gold in the 400m hurdles, surpassed Britain’s Nicole Yeargin and clinched victory by a narrow margin over Jamaica’s Stacey Ann Williams at the finish line.
